How do I winterize my preservative applicator?

This article discusses the necessary steps to winterize your Harvest Tec preservative applicator system, whether it is an electronic/manual or automatic system.

1.Thoroughly flush the system with water.

*At a minimum, close the supply line from the tank and run the pump(s) and lines dry of preservative.

*******DO NOT BLOW COMPRESSED AIR THROUGH THE FLOWMETER*******

2. Remove the filter bowl and run dry until the water has cleared out of the intake side.

3. Drain all lines on the outlet side.

*This includes removing the solenoid on 300/700 series and blowing out the tips/spray shield

 4. Never use oils or alcohol based anti-freeze in the system.

*Baler's Choice preservative will not freeze. You do not need to introduce any antifreeze to the system.

5. For spring start-up, if the pump is frozen, turn off the power immediately to avoid burning the motor or damaging the circuit board. The pump head can be disassembled and freed or rebuilt in most cases.

6. Disconnect power from the IPM/DCP/PIP/BMP/457 depending on which series/model applicator you have.

7. Remove display from tractor and store in a warm, dry place
